Kryptic Minds - Live - The Radio Sessions - Electronic Beats Radio 16-12-2011

While other acts usual top their press bio with an endless list of co-signers, residencies, record labels, DJ gigs and radio stations, Kryptic Minds deliberately put emphasis on exactly what they actually do: Deep dupstep with a deft understanding of the tensions and contradictions buried within it. While other producers try to play on a broad variety of mood, tempos and directions, Kryptic Minds play with details, zooming in on edgy 140bpm half-step. Coming from a drum’n’bass background, Si and Leon formed Kryptic Minds over ten years ago when Si released underground anthem ‘The Truth’. After a number of releases on drum’n’bass labels, the two founded their very own imprint Defcom Records on which they’ve released a total of 27 singles as well as their debut album Lost All Faith.

A couple of years later, Kryptic Minds set up Osiris Music UK to release a wide range of music and in 2008 they finally returned to dubstep following creative work with Youngsta and Loefah. As the flagship artists on Loefah DMZ’s label Swamp 81, their 12”s and album One of Us continues dubstep’s tradition for stone-cold halfstep, flying against the dancefloor’s natural urges for momentum and release, carrying listeners into an edgy otherworld. 2011 has seen their album Can’t Sleep. Their label Osiris flourishes, with new releases on the horizon that, just like Si and Leon’s music, are essential output for any fan of sub aquatic emotive dubstep. A close look at the track-list of their exclusive mix for Electronic Beats does not only give away some critical information on their label’s future but also an idea of the probably exclusive material from sessions to their upcoming album.
